How have you benefited from using the Career Center services?

After coming in and getting my resume and cover letter looked at, I applied for the Summer Internship Program at AT&T. My Career Consultant checked in with me every step of the way and acted as my personal cheerleader, something that kept me hopeful and excited. After receiving an offer for the internship, I was asked to return the next two summers. The Career Center also helped me apply to more companies this year and I have accepted an internship with Bell Flight. Everyone in the office is personable and efficient. They listen to you and help you decide how to act next.

How did working with the Career Center impact your internship/job search?

The Career Center is always trying to help students. From daily emails, to weekly highlights of events coming up and employers coming on campus, there is always something going on. These resources make it easy to find things to apply for.

What was the most helpful advice given to you by the Career Center?

Apply for everything. Even if it is not exactly what you think you are interested in, it can end up being a great experience. Also, networking is key. Keep all business cards, follow up on LinkedIn and don’t be afraid to talk to people and ask questions. These people could be your future colleagues one day.

What challenges were you facing and how did the Career Center help you solve them or motivate you to solve them?

As a freshman, I had no idea where to start, or if there were even opportunities for freshmen. The Career Center helped me walk through Frog Jobs and LinkedIn and find opportunities that I could apply for.

What advice would you give others facing the same challenges you did?

Don’t be afraid to make an appointment and ask for help. I believe the Career Center is the best resource on campus, and they will help you with ANYTHING! From applications to mock interviews, they want you to be successful as well.

Where there any specific events you went to that were beneficial? If so which one and why was it helpful?

Company Information Sessions have been very helpful for me. You are able to learn more about the company, get a sense of the culture, ask questions and network with recruiters, alumni and executives. It gives you a great leg-up when applying,
