Meet with your Career Consultants! They are trained to help us and make sure we don’t get too overwhelmed balancing job searching and school.

How have you benefited from using the Career Center services?

The Career Center has helped me apply for jobs and make connections. They have been extremely encouraging through the acceptances and rejections and always motivate me to move forward.

How did working with the Career Center impact your internship/job search?

They helped me find jobs that might suit me, conduct a proper phone and in person interview, and polish my resume to appeal to specific employers. I ended up accepting a position with a company that was at the Career & Intern Expo that they encouraged me to go to for that company specifically.

What was the most helpful advice given to you by the Career Center?

The Career Center always encouraged me to make connections with people on LinkedIn, and don’t be afraid to reach out consistently. I think this really helped people put a face with a resume and give my applications the push they needed.

What challenges were you facing and how did the Career Center help you solve them or motivate you to solve them?

I was struggling because I was overwhelmed by looking for jobs. The Career Center helped me get organized in an Excel spreadsheet and mark things off as I went. I made columns for connections, recruiter emails, application deadlines, etc.

What advice would you give others facing the same challenges you did?

Meet with your Career Consultants! That’s what they’re there for. They are trained to help us and make sure we don’t get too overwhelmed balancing job searching and school. Make connections, don’t be afraid to reach out to people.

Where there any specific events you went to that were beneficial? If so which one and why was it helpful?

The Career & Intern Expo was helpful because it was at the beginning of the semester and prepared me for interviewing later down the road.
