Success Stories: Andrew
How have you benefited from using the Career Center services?
The Career Center has been very helpful during the internship seeking process for me in many aspects. But personally, what I found most valuable was the encouragement of the staff.
How did working with the Career Center impact your internship/job search?
Taking advantage of the relationships the Career Center has with recruiters was very beneficial. They can get insightful information about what the specific criteria companies are looking for when hiring.
What was the most helpful advice given to you by the Career Center?
The Career Center helped me to identify which companies were best to apply to and what positions fit my skill sets. Knowing this information was critical.
What challenges were you facing and how did the Career Center help you solve them or motivate you to solve them?
The internship and job search process can be a really frustrating process, especially for international students, receiving encouragement significantly calmed me down during the process. One of my favorite quotes from my Career Consultant, Kathryn Bishop, is “Andrew, I will send you an email when it’s time to be panic.”
What advice would you give others facing the same challenges you did?
The most important advice that I have is don’t give up. Keep believing in yourself and always be your best self. Chances will eventually come, and your hard work will pay off. The Career Center is there to help you, don’t hesitate to reach out for advice.
