How did working with the Career Center impact your internship/job search?
Working with the Career Center truly helped me feel prepared during the job search. I could rest in confidence that my resume and cover letters were properly formatted and appropriate for dozens of applications. Chris was a constant person in the Career Center who was available to answer questions, both in person and over email.
What was the most helpful advice given to you by the Career Center?
The most helpful advice was regarding the resume formatting. I learned how to format my activities, certifications, and education in the best order for future employers in the school sector. In-person meetings helped me really design an organized resume, something I wouldn’t have been able to do by using an online generic template.
What challenges were you facing and how did the Career Center help you solve them or motivate you to solve them?
I was confused about how formal cover letter writing should be and the Career Center quickly answered that question and helped review my drafts.
What advice would you give others facing the same challenges you did?
Don’t be afraid to make an appointment and ask for help! Start early in the process and be consistent with follow-up to fine tune your resume and materials before job applications open.
Where there any specific events you went to that were beneficial? If so which one and why was it helpful?
Mock Interview prep with the College of Education and TCU Interview Day! The practice interview helped me feel very relaxed going into real interviews with school principals.
