Career Resources

Companies are working hard to identify virtual work solutions and many of the skills you are currently using, like Zoom and other distance learning technologies, will help you to successfully navigate a virtual working environment. In addition, we are working with employers every day to identify new opportunities for internships and full-time roles. The resources below will help you prepare, explore and succeed.

Explore Handshake for internships, part-time, and full-time opportunities. Handshake is being updated every day with new positions. When searching for opportunities, we recommend that you search broadly—don’t narrow your results with too many filters.

Keep checking the Events page in Handshake. We will continue to post opportunities for virtual career fairs, employer hosted events, and webinars.

LinkedIn is a great resource for your job search. You can see when the position was posted and if you have any connections or TCU alumni working there. Use this time to think about expanding your professional network in LinkedIn by following companies and reaching out to alumni working in fields you are interested in. Before you start your networking, review this LinkedIn Profile Checklist to ensure your profile is professional and highlights your strengths.

One of your most powerful resources is your personal network. Think about your parents, your parents’ friends, your friends’ parents, and the type of work they are doing. Consider reaching out to them to inquire about potential internships or virtual internship opportunities.

Utilize your network by conducting informational interviews to find out more about careers, businesses, or industry trends. Who knows, you may even find a new career path, mentor, or an internship or job.  Read more about the benefits of informational interviewing, including steps to take, questions to ask, and goals to set in the Information Interviews Workbook.

This is a good time to improve a skill or learn something new. Check back often, we will be adding to the list of platforms you can use to build skills.
