Career and personal assessments consider skills, values, interests, personality traits, and other factors to help determine potential career areas. An assessment should be the first step you take to get started in exploring your possibilities. Below is a list of the different types of assessments.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

The MBTI helps you to understand your natural preferences, suggests strategies for career exploration and development, and allows you to explore job families and occupations for your type. Schedule an appointment with your Career Consultant to review options to take this assessment.

Strong Interest Inventory
Helps you to explore your interests, generate career options to consider, and suggests experiential and educational opportunities aligning with your interests. Schedule an appointment with your Career Consultant to receive instructions to take this assessment.

Choosing A Major

  • What can I do with this Major? provides multiple major profiles with information on common career paths, types of employers that hire in the field, and strategies to maximize opportunities. Links to professional associations, occupational outlook information, and job search resources are included. Explore all major options here. 
  • O*Net Profiler is an interactive website for exploring and searching occupations. Get detailed information using keywords and do a skills search using a list that matches your abilities.

Career Center Consultants

Consultants can help you identify majors or careers that may be of interest and then guide you to the tools and resources needed to gain additional information. Schedule an appointment with your Career Consultant to discuss assessments.
